The spokesperson for the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
The suspects, it was learnt, stole the money found on the victim before fleeing the scene.
According to sources in the area, many residents fled upon hearing gunshots to avoid being caught by stray bullets even as the victim shouted for help.
Opalola told PUNCH Metro that one Adebayo Rilwan reported to the police that two men attacked Kareem at Akede Iyaloja area of Osogbo on Wednesday.
“His Bajaj motorcycle was snatched and the sum of N38,000 found on him was also stolen. The victim was immediately rushed to the Osogbo Central Hospital after the attack and he was pronounced dead at the health facility,” she stated.
The Police Public Relations Officer said police operatives were on the trail of the suspects and gave an assurance that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
