Recall that Mercy Chinwo had, through her lawyer, issued a ‘cease and desist’ letter to Obidiz ordering him to take down his song titled, ‘Mercy Chinwo’ from all digital music platforms.

The song in question was released in 2023, and tells the story of a wayward church girl.

She dey share me the cake, but she no want commit. Mercy Chinwo for church, but for club na Cardi B sef ”, the lyrics read in part.

Along with taking down the song, Obidiz is required to publicly and personally apologize to Mercy Chinwo.

Mercy further warned that failure to accede to her requests would attract legal action, including approaching the court to award 2 billion naira in damages against him for the defamatory use of her name.

Reacting via his Twitter handle, Obidiz denied making reference to the gospel singer in the song.

According to him, the song was about a lady he met.

“Na song I sing I no kill person. Mercy Chinwo for church, but in the club she’s Cardi B set’ you want to crucify me, I only Talk about a lady that I met, na she I sing about,” He wrote.
