The online music streaming platform has released a mini documentary to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Afrobeat label, ‘YBNL’.

Over the course of a decade, the YBNL Afrobeats label has developed a reputation for taking the sounds of the street to global ears through showcasing Afrobeat stars and producing effervescent hits.

 

In addition, Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa, disclosed this in a statement on 29th October. Okumu said to celebrate 10 years of the legendary Nigerian label, Spotify took to the streets of Lagos to document its influence.

She further mentioned in the statement that;

 

“Spotify today released a mini documentary to celebrate the 10th anniversary of YBNL, the culture-shifting Afrobeats label founded by Nigerian music icon, Olamide.”

 

Futhermore, she said from inception to date, some of the talents signed or endorsed included Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy, Asake, Pheelz, Young Jonn, DJ Enimoney, Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley, T.I. Blaze, Ycee, Viktoh, Chinko Ekun, and many more.

 

Moreso, she revealed 10 defining moments in YBNL history that had held significance over the years as the release of Olamide’s second studio album titled ‘YBNL’.

 

Therefore, this step marked the significance of his independent label and gave room for the Afrobeat label stars to thrive successfully.
